RCX SMART Remote Compatibility
Both LVx and DVx controllers match existing features of the long-established LV and DV controllers, with relevant 6, 8,and 12-channel versions coming RCX-Ready to accommodate an optional RCXRK digital interface for hooking up to the powerful RCX SMART Remote systems.
RCXRK digital interface is not available for LV4 and DV4 Controllers.

Future-proofing
For our customers that have pre-existing LV6/8/12 & DV8 Controllers in the field these can also be retrofitted with an RCXRK interface for full digital RCX SMART Remote integration – invaluable future-proofing for your existing OutBoard motor controller investment.
Accessories
- Classic analogue RC Handsets from 4-way up to 16-way with individual channel up/down switches and integral E-Stop.
- Remote GO and Remote E-Stop switches which can be linked across multiple controllers.
- Truss-mount Socapex Splitter Boxes and spider fanouts.

Smart convertor modules
There are also specialised Smart convertor modules that fit inside CM and other hoists:
- SmartLimit converts a low-voltage controlled hoist to direct control to simplify cabling while maintaining a hoist’s Limit Switch function.
- SmartSafe detects incorrect phase rotation and automatically switches to maintain correct direction in low-voltage control hoist

LVx and DVx Series FAQs
What is a chain-hoist motor controller?
A chain-hoist motor controller provides switched power for the movement of motorised chain hoists in staging and event production. The LVx and DVx Series controllers provide this with a range of ergonomic functions and safety features.
What industries or applications typically use LVx and DVx motor controllers?
The LVx and DVx motor controllers are commonly used in industries such as live event production, concert touring, theatre, film and television studios, sports events and arenas, and fixed venue installations. They are regarded as solid workhorses for safely and efficiently controlling motorised hoists used in rigging and staging.
What are the key differences between the LVx and DVx Series?
The LVx and DVx series differ primarily in their control method. In simple terms, the LVx switches the hoist direction via a separate control cable to the hoist (Low Voltage Control) and the DVx switches each hoist’s direction via individual contactors in DVx controller (Direct Control).
How do users choose the right LVx or DVx controller for their needs?
Users select a LVx or DVx controller based on their hoist type, the number of hoists, and specific operational needs, such as if the (LV) hoist’s mechanical limit switch function is essential. An advantage of direct control is less cabling as it doesn’t require a separate control cable for each hoist as for low voltage control
How does the RCX SMART Remote enhance LVx and DVx controllers?
The RCX SMART Remote system allows for digital control of multiple hoists from a single 16-, 32- or 64-channel remote handset, improving efficiency and precision during event productions and installations.
How does the overload protection in LVx and DVx controllers prevent damage during operation?
Both the LVx and DVx controllers include master MCB breaker overload protection, which automatically stops all hoists if an excessive current draw fault condition occurs, preventing damage to the hoists and truss ensuring the safety of the operators.
