|TiMax unleashes the Gods of War in Tangshan|
The 1500-capacity Tangshan Grand Theatre, situated within Tangshan’s World Park Expo in China’s Hebei Province, has installed a TiMax SoundHub-S32 audio showcontrol and spatial sound processor, whose first job was to bring a historic war drama very boldly to life.
The production required dynamic surround sound effects of the cacophony of war, including thunder and rain alongside the bullets, bombers and explosions. The theatre management expressed amazement at the quality and realism of the effects, reporting that audiences had been shocked by the sound effects, and that some theatre-goers reported feeling as if they had been transported back to the war zone itself.
The TiMax was fed into the main front left and right PA system plus rear left and right surrounds, as well as ceiling speakers providing overhead effects sources, to deliver immersive 3D sound effects to maximum dramatic impact. The main PA and surrounds were comprised of d&b V-Series line array and E-Series loudspeakers, with stage monitoring handled by d&b M Series. Amplification is managed by d&b D80s and the theatre is the first in China to use d&b’s Array processing.
The TiMax was supplied by Hong Kong-based Sound Works & Supplies Ltd, who commissioned the TiMax and set up the original sound effect Cues such as the sound of motorcycles, aircraft, lightning, rain, wind, amongst others.
“That it is quick and easy to operate is one of the advantages of TiMax”, commented SWS’s Assistant Engineering Manager, Caster Ding “In just half a day, the technicians from Beijing Long Hua had mastered its operation.”
